Wanted to throw a big giant thanks to our buddies over at Northwest VEG for their generous sponsorship of the Let Live Conference this year. You guys rule.

Not too shabby, right? This still might change a wee bit, but for the most part, here’s our speaker list. Have you registered yet?

Thursday, June 24th / “Bold Native” Screening
We’re not really calling this part of the conference, but we’ll be screening the new movie “Bold Native” at 5th Ave Cinemas, 7:30pm, near the PSU Campus. The filmmakers will be there to discuss the film. Should be interesting. $5 a person to help pay for their travel expenses, but whatever you can spare is fine, just come watch it.

Friday, June 25th / Let Live Kick Off Party
Details posted soon. 7pm. Think AR Spelling Bee. Think talk coming from the mouth of Andrew Stepanian. Think snacks. Think reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. You can also register for conference to save time in the morning.

Saturday, June 26th / Conference
Registration starts bright and early at 8:30am.  Intro/Conference Opening Talk by Jasmin Singer at 9:30. Workshops will go from 10am-5:30pm with lunch from 12-1:20. There will be vendors selling food in the exhibitor room. Be hungry. And, whatever you do, don’t miss this year’s “That Just Happened” closer.

Saturday night, June 26th / Extracurricular Events
Official write up coming soon, but think benefit art show, think music, think Portobello Vegan Trattoria, think 7pm-ish til whenever. ALSO, there will be demonstrations and other activities going down, and you can find out about them at the conference. We’re not organizing them, but encourage you to take part.

Sunday, June 27th / Conference
8:30am registration. Talks go from 9am-4pm with a 12-1:20 lunch break. Again, you won’t want to miss the conference closer. It’s gonna be a surprise.

For the very best deal, book a room at PSU’s University Place Hotel! The rooms come with high-speed wireless Internet, 25” television, alarm clock/ radio, a heated seasonal pool, fitness center, and more. You have a choice of a single king sized bed or double double sized beds for $55 per night plus tax. For more information on amenities visit: http://cegs.pdx.edu/stay/upl/accom.php.

***This rate is only good until June 11th. Get on it.

Let Live would greatly appreciate any help you can offer to offset the costs of the event. We’re asking for a suggested donation of $15 which includes entrance to all of the weekend’s events. Putting on a weekend’s worth of  talks with speakers isn’t cheap to do, so dig deep if you can afford it.  NOTE: IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD THE REGISTRATION FEE, WE WILL GLADLY ACCEPT 2 HOURS OF YOUR VOLUNTEER TIME IN EXCHANGE FOR ADMISSION. JUST EMAIL US FOR DETAILS.

Due to space restrictions, we’re having to put a limit on the number of attendees to 350. We’ll allow some overbooking because realistically not everybody is going to need to be in our biggest room at the same time but to be safe book now to ensure you get a spot! Don’t worry though, we’ll still try to make room for folks who don’t show up until the day of the conference if at all possible – but we may be down to standing room only at that point!

Wanna register now and get it over with? The easy way is to send us $$ via Network for GoodMake sure you click on the box to include your full contact info. Also note in the designation box that you are registering for the conference. Somebody will write you back to confirm your registration. Hey everybody. We are pleased to announce the dates for this year’s Let Live Conference. Once again, on the campus of Portland State University. Plenty of details to work out, but at least we know it’s gonna be June 25,26, and 27. Start making plans. xoxo

For those of you who missed, or want to share with others, this month’s talk w/ Jasmin Singer, here’s a video. Please feel free to embed it on your site, FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter… whatever. Spread the word.

In anticipation of the December 13th Let Live End of Year Community party, we thought it’d be nice if we re-watched Will Potter’s opening talk from last summer’s Let Live Conference. We really need to all be thinking of how we can best be involved in our own local communities, and get to work making things better. Our numbers are limited, let’s use them to their full potential, OK?
