Just got word that In Defense of Animals is kicking down for sponsorship. And also, that Little Otsu is donating a grip of their lovely greeting card/postcards for the Prisoner Support table so folks on the inside will get something nice in the mail.

Wow, just today we’ve learned that two other rad vegan Portland businesses are throwing some love our way.

This morning we heard from Aaron at Portobello:

“”From now until the conference, we will donate 10% of sales from Wednesday nights to the Let Live Foundation. Come on by and munch on vegan goodness whilst sipping a fine vegan wine! Reservations recommended.
Peace, Aaron”

and just got a text message from Lisa at Sweetpea:

“Hey, I’m posting online that we are donating half of our brunch sales to Let Live this week.”

Holy crap. Very touching to have such support from the community. Please go give these folks some money, and get full and happy.

This is simple. You come spend money at the Vegan Minimall (SE Stark and 12th), as you normally would (maybe a bit more) on June 13th. All day long. After the day is over, all the shops will donate a nice percentage of the day’s sales to the conference expenses. It should help quite a bit if they all have good sales that day. Scapegoat Tattoo is doing something special too. Very exciting. John, Ryan, and Henry will be doing $30 tattoos starting at noon. They are designing up a big sheet of animal rights / vegan related flash artwork for you to choose from. Just show up at noon, and take a number. First come, first served. Great, huh?

Friday night conference kickoff party
June 26, 7 to 10 pm
PSU Smith Memorial Union, Room 228

Hello! Your presence is requested at the Let Live Conference kickoff party, Friday night, June 26. Please join us for a night of community building, vegan soft serve ice cream eating (thanks Blossoming Lotus), and off the hook fun. All speakers and attendees are invited. The festivities will begin with a talk by Will Potter about the importance of community in this movement and how important it is for all of us to support each other in the pursuit of our common goals for the animals. This talk gets to the heart of what this conference is all about and will set the tone for the weekend.

Once the hugfest is complete, the karaoke machine will roar to life and your greatest triumph/humiliation will be set to begin. Hopped up on soft serve, surrounded by a room full of new and old friends, your performance is bound for legendom! Bring your voice and your guts and lay it down! A warning: Word on the street is that some amongst us have been practicing for months.

If you aren’t the karoake type, you can camp out by the soft serve machine, filling your belly, making friends, and cheering on the singers.

We are hoping this conference will blur the lines between speakers and attendees, beginners and more seasoned activists. We could think of no better way to do that than belting out the hits with each other. Come sing, laugh, and cheer, or just laugh and cheer. Whatever you do, just don’t miss this!

See you there!

Tomorrow (6/4) is Sip’s one year anniversary! Congrats to Mr. Heck for making Portland a nicer place.

Go over tomorrow (in front of People’s Coop) and celebrate with a milkshake. Sip is going to donate 100% of the milkshake profits help fund the Let Live Conference. So… no excuses. Go freeze your brain and support a good cause.

Hello, Friends!

The Let Live Animal Rights Conference is just around the corner and we are in need of volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to get involved and for those who volunteer at least two hours- it also means FREE admission to the entire conference! How can you beat that? You can’t! So join us Wednesday, June 10th at 8pm at Food Fight (1217 SE Stark) to learn more.

If you can’t make the volunteer meeting but are interested in helping out, please e-mail us at elsbeth@letlivefoundation.org and we’ll set you up. Thank you for supporting animals and Let Live!

xoxo
