Hey everybody!

Less than a week to go, hope you’re ready. Just a few things we’d like to mention in no particular order and in handy bulleted points. Here we go:

  • Please try and come to the opening party on Friday night if you can. Sure to be fun and Will Potter is always a great speaker.
  • Don’t forget the fun night at Bye and Bye on Saturday night. Come hang out and eat and talk to your new pals. All details on our website.
  • Recheck the schedule, some things may have moved. Plan out in advance what you wanna see, there are some tough choices to make, sorry.
  • There may be a couple of people trying to do interviews at Let Live. One person is working on a documentary and is renting out a room at PSU to film in. This does not mean that we know him, his true intentions, or endorse his project. We urge everybody to just use your best judgment with regards to talking to ANYBODY. I’m sure this doesn’t even need to be said, but… we felt it should still be put out there.
  • We’re trying our darndest to make this event as eco-friendly as possible. All the food service items will be compostable and we’ve really tried to minimize paper usage, opting to print big schedule posters instead of individual registration packets like last year. Please bring your own scratch paper, pens, and reusable water bottles. Thanks in advance for help with this.
  • Oh yeah, the full street address of the Smith Memorial Building is 724 SW Harrison St, Portland, OR 97201. Plop that into your internet direction makers or GPS or whatever.
  • Ummm, what else? Parking info is on the conference page (http://www.letlivefoundation.org/conference/), take note.

That’s about it. Come ready to learn, get inspired, and take your new energy home with you to get active for the fuzzy-wuzzies. They need you. See you soon.

xoxo the Let Live crew

Hello Everyone!
As the conference is fast approaching we wanted to make a note of the current status of volunteer positions. First I would like to thank all of the people who have volunteered their time, without you we would have no conference! The amount of caring and helpful people who have offered their time has brought us to a point where we are formally closing volunteer requests. That being said, we do understand the current economic hardships and will continue to accept work in payment for entry. These requests need to be sent in by Wednesday (06/24) as we need sufficient time to finalize the schedule and volunteer list for the conference opening Friday night. Please remember that we will not turn anyone away for lack of funds, so please contact me if you have questions, concerns, would like to schedule a volunteer time slot etc. See you at the conference! :D

Thanks,
Els

From our pal Ben:

Whiffies are $3 for sweet, $4 for savory. Many delicious vegan options are available.

Gregg (owner of the Whiffie cart) will also be debuting his vegan chocolate creme pie when we arrive that night. The vegan pot pie (a crowd favorite) will also be available, along with additional varieties. Partial proceeds from sales will benefit: http://www.letlivefoundation.org/ A donation jar will also be passed around. And I will be personally donating a dollar per pie for every person that eats at least 6. Ride leaves (at 10pm ON THE DOT) from the Honest-1 Autocare Parking lot, SE 20th Ave and Stark St. Bring lights! (approximately 1 mile downhill to the Whiffie cart : )

Even short rides are fun in big groups. So please make the effort to ride down together.

“On Sunday July 19th, Akemi Salon will be hosting a benefit for the Let Live Foundation. Stylists Suzzette Fasching, Augustus Bowman, Christian McNutt, and one more TBA will be donating their talents for a very worthwhile cause. From noon until eight p.m. the stylists will be performing haircuts for the benefit of the Let Live Foundation. For a suggested donation of $20 for women’s hair, and $10 for men’s hair, you can look as good as you’ll feel after spending time in the chair of some of Portland’s most talented stylists. Come treat yourself to a full salon service experience while donating money to a very worthwhile cause.

Augustus, Suzzette, and Christian are all stylists who feel very strongly about a vegan lifestyle, and welcomed the opportunity to pool their talents to raise money for the unexpected expenses incurred in putting on this years Let Live Conference. All the shampoo and hair products used at Akemi Salon is completely cruelty free.

We do ask that you make an appointment, although walk-ins will be serviced as time permits. Please schedule with your desired stylist in advanced to make sure you can be a part of what will surely be a great time for a great cause.
