Where to Stay during the Let Live Conference

Just sorted out nice budget digs for all you out of towners coming in! Thanks Els for your work on this. Reserve your spot ASAP, and let us know if it fills up, we can maybe add on more rooms.

Stay in the Broadway Building on PSU campus! European style rooms with single beds, private bathrooms and kitchens. Green building with rain water harvesting, low energy usage, and recycled materials design. $40/ night in the Ondine and $50 per night in the Broadway Building with free wireless access, fans, coffee pots, phones, alarm clocks and linens (bedding and towels).

Hi Let Live friends. Good news, and stressful news. Good news first: 

Let Live Series Event:
The Anatomy of High Impact Direct Action: Strategies For Animal Liberation with Peter Young
March 29, 2009 / 2p.m. / Free (donations accepted)
Portland State University, Room 238 of the Smith Memorial Union Building

There are also two great benefits (not Let Live events, but very worthy of support) coming up for the AETA4 defendants.

Benefit #1:
March 28th / 6pm / Donations accepted at door / No one turned away for lack of funds

Speakers: Will Potter (GreenIsTheNewRed.com) and Lauren Regan (Civil Liberties Defense Center)
Bands: Mike XVX, Camping Party, Slow Teeth

Benefit #2:
March 29th / 6:30pm / $5-$15 (do your best)
Liberty Hall, 311 N Ivy
Speakers: Will Potter (GreenIsTheNewRed.com), Peter Young (former Animal Liberation prisoner)
Bands (after the speakers): Death AD, Unrestrained, Parasitic Skies

Now on to the bad news/stress. Up to now, our usage of Portland State University facilities has been free of charge. Well, we just found out a couple of days ago that PSU is going to start charging us for usage of their space. Now, the conference is going to cost us an extra $6000 to put on, and the monthly events would be just over $100 a month. Quite a bummer to say the least.

So, as of now, after this weekend’s event, the Let Live Series will be moved to the Portland office of In Defense of Animals, corner of NE Alberta and 18th. Should be plenty of room, and the price is right, free. Thanks so much to Matt and IDA for providing us this space to use for future events.

For the conference, we just have to deal with the increase in expenses as best as we can. So, as of now, early registration discount is dead. It’ll cost you a whopping $15 to attend the conference’s approximate 60 workshops and talks of the weekend of June 26-28th. We think that’s still quite a bargain.

We’re now working on finding sponsors and loving donors to help support the conference in whatever way they can. For example… you. If you think you can afford it, you could send us a little extra money on top of your registration. Anything would be appreciated and it’ll all add up quickly, we’re confident of that. Donation info can be found on our site, www.letlivefoundation.org. Another thing that could help would be donations of frequent flyer miles to fly speakers in, so if you are interested, shoot us an email and we’ll help make it happen. We really hate to bother you folks for money, but… we gotta, sorry. Don’t sweat it if you can’t donate more, really, but if you can, you’ll be supporting a good thing.

Early Registration for the Let Live NW Animal Rights Conference

Hey, Friends!
The 2009 Let Live Conference is officially set for June 26th-28th in Portland, Oregon and registration is open NOW. To offset the cost of the conference, we kindly request a donation of $15 for registration. However, for early birds who register by May 1st, the suggested donation is only $10! So register early and help us provide you with a bigger and badder animal rights conference.

Not able to attend the conference but want to show some love? Send us a donation! Every donation helps us bring in speakers you want to see, hear and meet. It also helps us provide videos presentations of our speakers on the Let Live Foundation website (www.letlivefoundation.org) so you can enjoy them no matter where you are.

To check out the conference speaker list, donate and register, click on the “Conference” tab found on the www.letlivefoundation.org homepage. Hurry up!
